Ojisan first appeared in the 1995 edition of the MIDORI Pocket Diary as one of its illustrated characters.
At a time when most products featured animal-themed characters, Ojisan was created as a character with a slightly quirky and whimsical personality. 
Like a comet suddenly appearing on the scene, he quickly captured people's attention. 
With his distinctive appearance and endearingly odd behavior, Ojisan has continued to be loved by fans for many years.
